Stay tuned … An Historic Week

By: Myles, February 8th, 2009

You may have noticed. Recently, we have been sitting on the sidelines, and resisted putting up a post, and for good reason.

First, stories regarding real estate, and the economic catastrophe we are experiencing, have been so over saturated and so over reported,  I’m just not sure what value we could have added for you. But most importantly, we have stayed on the side lines primarily because EVERYTHING (and I do mean everything that we knew to be our financial system) is apparently up in the air.

No one knows much about anything. And the true litmus test is that we know things are historically bad when even the pundents (who are paid to talk and act as if they  have all the answers, all the time) are proudly taking a pass and are dead pan silent.

BUT, come this week — starting on Monday, February 9th –President Obama’s Economic Recovery Train is quickly moving out of the station and will be picking up considerable steam, very quickly. This week we’ll begin to hear …..

  • Treasury Secretary Geitner’s TARP roll-out plans (how do we spend the money and or what?);
  • FED Chairman Bernake’s comments on money supply and other goodies;
  • Congresses passing of a Stimulus Package, which will surely be pushing north of $1 Trillion Dollars ….
  • We’ll know about spending programs, tax incentives, etc.;
  • What is the [lan with respect to all the toxic assets on the books, etc.

And when the news finally hits, we’ll be there to: (1) summarize it; (2) analyze it; and (3) share thoughtful insights from others. And most importantly, we are going to report on these programs and legislation from YOUR perspective — our real estate community.

We will provide insights into not only what is happening (to give you a heads up), but how, perhaps, to plan and strategize best to position yourselves to make the most out what is coming down the pike (whether we like it or not).

So stay tuned ….. this is going to be a week that will go down in the history books.
